Saints at St Gabriel's

Our school saint is St Gabriel whose feast day falls on 29th September. This special feast day is celebrated with a whole school liturgy to recognise our school and parish saint.

Each class at St Gabriel’s has their own class saint who is displayed in classrooms. At the time of their feast day, each class prepares and delivers a whole school liturgy, or assembly, to celebrate their class saint.

The class saints are:

Pre-school – St George

Year 1 – St David

Year 2 – St Valentine

Year 3 – St Bernadette

Year 4 – St Peter

Year 5 – St Augustine

Year 6 – St Thomas More

In addition to ourclass saints, our house system is also based on saints, who were chosen by the children. The children work hard to be rewarded with house points each and every day and these efforts are rewarded with house points. The weekly total of house points for each house are celebrated in our weekly celebration assembly. There is a prominent display of our house saints in the school hall where an image of each saint, their prayer and the number of house points awarded for the week are displayed. The feast day of each saint is also celebrated with a whole school liturgy.

Our four house saints are:

  • St Mary
  • St Joseph
  • St Teresa
  • St Oscar Romero
