Year 5 Visit to Stockport Museum & Air Raid Shelter
Lesson: History
Class: Year 5 Year: 2014 - 2015
On Wednesday 4th February, Year 5 had a fantastic time visiting Stockport Museum and Air Raid Shelter. We spent the day 'in role' as evacuees, being billeted to new homes. We learned how to 'make do and mend' and received ARP (Air Raid Precaution) training so we would know what to do in the event of an air raid. In the afternoon, we visited the underground tunnels, that form the Stockport Air Raid Shelter, and truly experienced a glimpse of what it must have been like for children living in war time Britain.
