Snow day activities
Here are some activities to keep your little ones busy today if you wish to use them. There is no pressure to complete these, as I know many of you will be working from home today, but they are here if you'd like and are able to access them.
- Go on a winter walk and use the checklist attached. Can you draw a map of what you saw?
- Create some sparkly snow dough using the recipe below, and practice your dough disco moves- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnpILg6I6Nk
- This week, we are basing our learning around 'The Smartest Giant in Town' by Julia Donaldson. Enjoy the story, or use this clip: Storytime for Kids Read Aloud: Smartest Giant in Town by Julia Donaldson
- Using the attached template (Giant template), or drawing your own giant-can you dress him/her in different clothes and label the clothes using initial sounds e.g write t next to t-shirt, h next to hat, or even have a go at segmenting the words and writing them down in full. I have attached a 'Clothes word mat' to help with this.
- Number formation with ten town. Use the attached sheet, let your child have a practice of each number up to 10 on paper, card, in the air, in shaving foam etc!
- Tricky words song Tricky Words and Sight Words Song - YouTube
- Have a sing-song: Dance Around the Snowman
(Sing to the tune of ‘Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush’.)
This is the way we dance around,
Dance around, dance around.
This is the way we dance around,
Our snowman in the morning. - Other verses:
Skip around,
Twirl around,
Hop around,
Gallop around,
Sneak around,
Tiptoe around. - If you need to keep to keep them busy because you are working yourselves, then feel free to watch the Julia Donaldson stories on BBC iplayer. Search - julia donaldson - BBC iPlayer
Take care and stay safe :)
