Snow Day Learning Ideas and Links
I have attached a selection of activities that you may wish to complete with your child at home. Please do not feel that your child needs to complete all of the activities, as I have included a wide range for you to choose from. If time is limited, please focus on activities related to the phonic sound ‘y’ (saying ee) and numbers to 20.
I have also included some short teaching clips for your child to watch before completing the activities, as these will help to support their understanding.
If you are unable to print the activities, that is absolutely fine. Children can practise writing numbers and number words on a piece of paper. They could also write a simple sentence about winter and draw a picture or write a fact about snow. In addition, please encourage your child to practise sounding out to spell some ‘y’ words, such as funny, silly, mummy, runny, stinky, smelly, and lazy.
I have also included some fun winter yoga and a wintery story by Nick Butterworth.
Thank you.
